Gig News

Sorry to say our June 8th Cocktail & Burger gig has been cancelled. More gigs soon however, and in the mean time if you haven't got your ticket to see us and many other great bands at Doune the Rabbit Hole on 24th August, get it here http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/305937 !

Bar Gumbo this Friday

Hi folks, we'll be playing at Gumbo this Friday from 9 - it's on Byres Road in Glasgow dontchaknow. Stuart Macpherson will be joining us on bass again for this one and we are delighted to have Scott Murphy with us on tenor. As such we'll be playing all the hits off Alloy, which Scott also played on and you can hear here. Plus some extra standards and more cornbread and cocktails than will seem reasonable in the morning..

dBass Swing Special this Sunday

We are playing at Gibson Street Gala this weekend - one of our favourite gigs of the calendar, in the back court of West bank Qaudrant! We are doing a special set this time featuring some classic swing numbers for the Glasgow Swing Dance Society dancers to hop along to. Here's the full lineup: http://gibsonstgala.co.uk/whats-on/gow-backcourt/

Joining us in this semi-bigband are some more fantastic horns: includingTim Quicke on trumpet, as well as a full sax section of alto, tenor, baritone. And Martin's going to wield his clarinet too.

We'll also have Stuart Macpherson back on bass, a delightful turn of events, and as a celebration we'll be playing a few of his numbers and his selected favourites from his recent recital.

We're on at 2.15, its free, and it looks like its going to be another warm and sunny weekend, so do come along!

23/9/12 - Tchai Ovna on Wednesday, farewell to Stu

Apologies for the radio silence lately. We're back, playing at the Tchai Ovna this Wednesday at 8pm. We shall have with us guest bassist David Bowden, and a couple of new tracks to try out.

We are sad to bid farewell to Stuart, who is moving onto bigger and brighter things, and wish him all the best especially for his coming final year at uni. Stu has been a defining member of dBass, contributing only the highest quality writing and playing - he's a tough act to follow! We are really happy that we got to record Alloy with him, and to have two of his tunes so well documented. So all the best Stu!

13/06/12 - A busy few days ahead

We have a few summery gigs on this week - tonight at the Tchai Ovna, Otago Lane for our monthly night there. Things kick off at 7.45 and there'll be plenty of tea and grub on offer as usual.

Then on Sunday there is the Gibson Street Gala, at which we will be playing the Otago Lane stage at 3.45.

Closely followed by a saunter down Kelvin Way to play at the Goat at 6pm. Easy! We hope you can join us for these more than pleasant West End Festival gigs, and don't forget your fivers for Alloy EPs. Aye.

23/05/12 - EP in shops and Meadowmill

Hi folks! First up, we are playing on Saturday for the Wasps studios in Dundee as part of their Meadowmill launch event. We will have with us  the excellent bass player David Bowden standing in for Stu. Do come along and check out some of the work of the many artists toiling away in Wasps!

In other news, Alloy, our recent EP, is available to buy in the following Glasgow outlets:
Monorail, LoveMusic, Tchai Ovna and Go Slow, the latter two also being places you can get a mean cup of tea too.

Look out for our West End festival performances next month! Cheerio for now.
